Hubert Herr Cuckoo Clock help…

Hi! I would love your options on a beautiful Hubert Herr Cuckoo clock that belonged to my husbands aunt. She’s had it since at least my husband was young child in the early 70’s. It’s been hanging on the wall and I’ve never seen it work. We’re in the process of selling her home and some of her belongings. Any dating or value info would be greatly appreciated. I did see that some of the much older ones were painted, shellacked. I don’t believe she ever had anything herself done to it. I believe the color is original.

Your clock needs a full restoration. It will be pricey but if you don't do it, it probably will never be done ...

I'm assuming you have a sentimental connection to the piece?

Thank you Willie, I guess we do… we have a house full of amazing stuff that we’re moving out of so having to pick and choose what to sell and what to store. This may be a keeper.

I would say, it has little (if any) value as is, so you would have to hope for an offer ...

I just took it down. Think we’ll keep it until I can have someone properly look at it. Even if we don’t get it working, it’s a beautiful piece of art and I don’t want to make any mistakes. I’ll keep in touch if I hear anything!

Hi again, Here’s another one we just found in the house. It was in the unopened box. My husbands father had it sent to his family while he was overseas in the early 50’s… while he was in the Korean War. I can’t find anything out about this company “joint”. I haven’t put batteries in it to try it. It’s in brand new condition… like I said, in the box. If you any any knowledge about this company or clock, it would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, this may have been from when his aunt went on sabbatical in the 70’s. Looks like 70’s..
