Trying to replace mainspring on Waltham size 18 Vanguard model 1892. I don't want to force it open. Seems like the arbor is holding onto the bottom of the barrel very tight.
The cap seems loose with a large seem between the barrel, yet can't pry it off with mild pressure. I don't want to warp the barrel cap. Any suggestions?

You will damage it. You can find instructions on disassembling the Waltham jeweled mainwheel
