American PW How to regulate my Waltham 1903 Vanguard 1892 model?

How do I regulate this movement? It is running a little fast. Just cleaned and serviced. I pushed the tab a little to the S and I heard a little crack. Was I suppose to move it from the little dot.
Usually I just move the long tab, did I do it wrong?

Just turn the 8 points star to S and the tab will move to the left.

Could I have damaged anything trying to move the tab, instead of the star?
Everything is working great when I move the star.

The crack sound is from the loop skipped one teeth at the star center, nothing damaged.
