Hello, I hope that someone might be able to help me figure out the age of my clock, and if any ideas as to how much it is worth. Your inputs will be appreciated.

The movement is most likely Hermle and will be stamped in the lower right corner of the back plate with either a date or a letter code signifying the year of production. My guess from the movement having a floating balance would be 1970’s. Value probably $50-100 depending on the movement condition.

Welcome to the forum.

You have a relatively modern clock, and as far as I can see from the photo of the movement, which is not very sharp, it has an URGOS UW/6 movement, with a floating balance.

These movements were made for quite a longtime,, certainly during the 1960s and 1970s and I believe were taken out of production in the late 1970s. Others may have more detailed dates for you.

Looking at your clock, I would suppose it may date from the 1970s, making it 50+ years old, which is relatively modern in clock terms. I see the markings on the inside of the door and 12.2.73 may well be the date of manufacture.

I cannot say what the value might be where you live, but it is not a very valuable clock and you often find them in thrift stores etc. - sadly, modern movements often wear out and repair/replacement is often more than the clock is worth.

Others may know more about the value.

PS I see tracerjack beat me to the send button ! Glad we are more or less in agreement.

Thanks JTD for correctly identifying the movement. I am not very familiar enough with Urgos to spot one from a photo, and didn't realize the photo could be enlarged enough to actually see the letters UW. I can see a date on the movement 6/?7. The number in question is too blurry to see, but Manny Q should be able to read it. But actually, I think you are correct that the date stamped on the back door 12.2.73 is the date of the clock's manufacture.
