Hello, I have had difficulty finding a date for a chronometer I have come across. It has the serial #2E12687 on the movement. The letter "E" is throwing me off, cause most of the serial number listing I have been able to find dont begin this way. I have seen a few listings on this forum where assistance was given. I would greatly appreciate it. I know if came off a ship from a steamship line. It has two calibration forms from George Butler in San Francisco.

The NAWCC Hamilton on line data bases, including the hand written ledgers, stop at S# 2E12300. In Marvin Whitney's book on the marine chronometer, he indicates that 13,087 model 21 marine chronometers were produced by Hamilton. Hopefully, somebody knows the answer to your question. Chronometers in the last lot of 100 shown in the NAWCC records were produced as late as 1955.
