How do these two pieces align - Ansonia mantle movement

I took a tons of photos before I disassembled the movement, but I failed to take one showing how this gathering pallet piece aligns with the pins of the gear it is pressed onto. Do the pins on the GP align with the pins on the wheel, or does it not matter?

Yes, it matters, but it's easily set up after assembly. You just have to move the GP to conform to the indents on the wheel.

Thanks. I have the clock back together and I did find a photo that somewhat showed how the pins on the GP lined up with the pins on the wheel. I think it's close but the strike train seems locked up, so I know something is off, or everything is off. I'm in the process of reading Conover's "Striking Clock Train Guide" and Lloyd's ""...Bench Manual" to see if I can figure out how the rack and snail system is supposed to work.

It would help if we could see a picture of the whole front side of the movement showing the rack and snail. From the picture of the parts, it looks like a bim-bam strike. Generally, you want to allow the fan to turn one revolution at a time until the "bam" hammer just falls, then you want the stop wheel to turn just a bit more until the stop pin contacts the stop lever and locks. (It helps to do this with the rack out of the way). Now put the rack back in place and install the gathering pallet so the pin has just cleared of the rack (so the rack can drop without hitting the pin) and you should be good to go. If the strike stops before the last hammer drops, or with the "Bim" hammer raised, make a small adjustment in the gathering pallet. Occasionally it may be necessary to reposition the stop wheel's relationship to the wheel shown (with the hammer pins).

The strike train lock up was because I had what I think is the warning/lifting level that is between the plates incorrectly installed. I fixed that and it's no longer "locked up". However, that doesn't address the alignment of the GP and the stop wheel. Here's a few photos showing the alignment of the key pieces. The photos were all taken without the movement running.

Note that there is a hole in the warning wheel where a second warning pin might have been - see the photos. I don't know it there is supposed to be a pin there or not.

If there's a hole for a pin, you are probably missing one. I would put one in that hole and test it out. Count wheel clocks almost always have two pins. Not totally sure about your rack and snail design.

If the gathering pallet set has two pins, it is very likely that the extra hole had another stop/warning pin. The proof is in the pudding, if it works OK as it is leave it alone. Are there any witness marks around the hole suggesting that a pin was once riveted in there?

I'm still testing it, but it seems like the strike train works properly. The train goes into warning a few minutes before the hour and half hour and it chines a number of times on the hour.

There are two points on the warning lever that collect that single pin at either the warning or after the chime strike. Is it possible that the extra half revolution of the warning wheel (missing a pin) is not necessary?

Post # 1 shows a part with two sets of bim-bam pins. If you are seeing an unusually long warning run, then it is pretty sure that there was a second stop/warning run. If the strike hammer does not begin to lift during the warning run, then its a matter of whether it is worth taking the clock apart to add a pin. If one of the hammers does lift during the warning run, then you really need to replace the missing pin.You ,may want to anyway just because it is supposed to be there.
