History of Wyler watches

Hi all. I''ve been absent for a while in my research on watch brands, due to a stroke. Some of you might remember my wrist watch columns in the Bulletin in the '90s and early 2000s. Various circumstances ended my writing for the Bulletin, but I still very much enjoy researching and writing about watches. For those of you who remember and miss my columns, I offer for your enjoyment my latest article on the history of Wyler, founded in 1924 by brothers Paul and Alfred Wyler. There are NO ads, or affiliate links in this article, just pure information. So John (moderator), I am hoping this does not violate NAWCC rules. I am just trying to get the information out there in the absence of any significant watch articles in the Bulletin, per our discussion about a year and a half ago when I donated most of my research materials to the NAWCC library.

And yes, I've been around long enough to have read some of your articles in the Bulletin. I may not have read them all, but that it because I wasn't so much into wristies at the time, and it seemed that this was your specialty. I still have a fair number of bulletins that I can get to the articles you put together.

Thanks for the post and the link. Glad to see you writing again. There are certainly no violations I can see in your link. I enjoyed it. I am, interestingly enough, trying to purchase a lot from an old line jeweler which includes a store display from Wyler which is sort of an upright model of their patented "Incaflex" balance wheel.

Thanks for sharing the article, Bruce. I'm a big Wyler fan and becoming ever more passionate.

Did Wyler ever make their own movements? I think all the examples I own have ETA movements with Incaflex balances.

Originally Wyler did make movements. Dr Ranfft seems to consider that Wyler only created the one in house movement. He is most likely correct.
Yes they fitted their own spiral balance to many Swiss ETA movements and Ranfft only lists ETA movements. However, in my time at the bench serviced quite a lot of Wyler with FHF 72 movements.
