• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

I am working on a Herbert Herr cuckoo clock and I have not encountered this particular movement before.

I have run into a problem that I am not sure how to fix so I decided to ask all you gentlemen if you know how I might get this movement apart.

The problem I have is that the shut off lever for the ringing is connected to a shaft that runs through the movement and the activation lever for the music box on the rear of the movement is connected to this same shaft.

My problem is that both of these levers are pressed on opposite ends of the one shaft and I cannot get either one of them off with lifting levers without damaging the movement plates.

If anyone has worked on this particular movement can you please tell me how I might go about getting these levers off so I can take the movement apart to repair it without destroying it?

I am stumped and I am asking for any of your expertise in this repair?

Try a puller where it pulls up on the part while it pushes down on the arbor simultaneously. There may be be a retainer clip attached to the arbor inside the plate. You may want to lightly mark any parts first to help reorient during reassembly.

Thanks Vernon I don't have puller that will work on the lever as mine are too big and I cannot get them between the shaft and the clock plates even after I removed the c clip I just cannot get in-between the shaft and the plates.

I guess I am going to need to try and a find a puller to buy that will work.

Paint can openers are a vital tool on clock repair benches.
