I am trying to identify when my pocket watch was manufactured

It is a Henry Birks and sons watch with a case serial number 27243.
The movement is a Birks Cavendish 17 jewels with a serial number : 2271677

The case also has some numbers engraved by hand (see pictures)

Watch is by Longines and according to serial number records its dated to 1909.

    This looks right.

Nice watch you have. I have the same movement in mine made by Birks.

Is Cavendish just a model name that Birks put on the watch?

Birks private labelled a wide range of pocket watches, from very high grade to ordinary, as evidenced by this ad; regrettably, it doesn't refer to a Cavendish model.

Thanks Ethan. There is a Cavendish family in Canada, wondered if named after them.

Hi agin Dr jon, would you know how to set the time on it? The crown does not pull up and I see no other mechanism to set the time.

Roger, that is how time is is set, you pull it out. If stuck badly perhaps take to a watch repair person to help you.
