I am trying to restore a 'Sidney' advertising clock. It came with the original New Haven 'calendar' movement, but all other mechanical parts are missing. (lower movement, gears etc.) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like an interesting project. If you could show pictures of what you have, we might be able to help you better.

Arg... my memory is getting pretty bad. There was a fellow in downstate Illinois that used to produce all the parts for repairing Sidney Clocks. He was pretty much the "go to" guy for these clocks. I personally haven't corresponded with him in ten years but he could still be in the repair business. I think it was Jerry Schafer: (309).342.0602 - Antiques Of Other Times; but not 100% sure. Best of luck, Bob

    Good Morning Paul,

Quick question about your Sidney Advertising Clock. In the photos with the door off it looks like the dial surround is metal painted black? Is that correct or is it wood? I haven't had the chance to see too many of the early Sidney clocks so just curious.

    Thanks in advance,

    Bob

Bob, the dial surround is metal, which I painted black. It appeared original when I purchased the clock.

    Hi Paul,

I have one of the older Sidneys that has had a number of restorations done to it. I always wondered if that metal dial surround was part of the restoration effort or if that was original. So now I know: original. Thank you for sharing!

    Regards,

    Bob
