HELP...Suspension Spring for Schmid Mantel Clock

Without success, I have looked for a suspension spring on the `net. The original is 6mm wide, hole-to-hole 9.8mm, with a thickness of 1mm. Holes have a diameter also of 1mm. The feather steel is 0,045mm thick.

Can anyone please help? Diagram attached.

Any small generic double ribbon suspension spring will work. Just check the pin to hole distance and you will have to file (or sand) off that corner, if necessary.

The generic replacement will probably work better than that old one ever did.

Merritt's #P-21.2 through #P-21.7. These are all identical except for the length. All supply companies sell this same generic line of suspension springs. Yours will probably be close enough to a #P-21.2. The hole will probably need to be relocated a bit to be closer to 1cm.

If you have a paper catalog, the springs are life size. You don't need any measurements, just match the old one to the images in the catalog.

I agree. Minor differences in the suspension spring can be compensated for at the rating nut pretty easily.
