Watch post

Hello all,
I'm hoping to identify this watch so I can look into repairing it. I inherited it from my Grandpa when he died about 20 years ago and its been sitting in a box sens then. I stumbled upon it a couple days ago and thought it be nice to get it working again. It seems to be in decent condition however it dose seem to be missing some parts.

I'm not at all familiar with Pocket watches so I was hoping for any info people could offer. I tried Googling "Waltham 16112065" but got a lot of different hits. the face looked right but the housing is different, and a lot a various movements (its hard for me to match the movement due to the missing parts) I know it's hard to tell for sure with pictures alone but any info would be greatly appeared. Maybe what parts are visibly missing. Even just make or model to get me started researching would be awesome. Maybe even some tips on looking for repair shops who could do the work.

Anyway, Thanks for all the info. I'm hopping its not a lost cause.

Thanks all.

Welcome to the forum.

You need at least a new balance wheel (complete), a balance cock and possibly a crystal.

Personally I would look for a donor movement for parts.

Unfortunately a replacement of the balance and cock will upset the serial numbers of the movement. The balance is normally marked with the serial number of the movement and the cock can typically have the three last figures of the serial number. Mixed serial numbers is not a positive thing BUT since it is not possible to find the original balance/cock and since it is your fathers watch I would rather do a repair than scraping the watch.

I see at least one donor possibility on ebay. But, sounds like you will need a watchmaker to do the servicing for you.

Let me add my welcome to you.

I just wanted to say I hope you are successful in restoring your Grandpa's pocket watch. The model 1892 Waltham is a very popular watch among collectors.

I have a 17 jewel 18size 2-tone P. S. Bartlett and thought I would show it so you can see the parts you are missing. If you are not in a hurry I would hold out for another 2-tone P. S. Bartlett movement so all the decorative patterns on the watch match each other. Your watch will then appear original and look like it did when your Grandpa had it.

Just my .02

Good luck.

I can't say for sure but you can find more info if you key in the serial number from the auction movement in the link in post #3 above.

Oh right, duh! Don't know why I didn't think of that. Thank you.
