• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

I was wondering if anyone know this beautiful watch, is it UN? If not what is this? Pictures attached. Many thanks!

Are there any markings inside the case that would indicate a manufacturer?

The 15 jewel movement is not particularly high grade, nor well finished, but then again, Ulysse Nardin went through a relatively low point during the post WW2 years.

My feeling is that this watch may be an older UN movement (although it appears remarkably similar to a Marc Favre movement) that has later been re-cased and had a dial made in a much earlier style. Unless there are case markings that indicate otherwise, that would be my most optimistic assessment. Other than that, I would be inclined to think that the whole watch may be a fantasy piece.

KJAG may be for Kollmar & Jourdan, casemakers from Pforzheim, Germany, who would have imported the Swiss movement bare and finished it locally. No date is given in Mikrolisk, and the mark example is different than yours, but due to the unusual combination of letters, I tend to think that probably only one company has ever registered any mark with that specific combination. Your specific mark looks older than the one listed in the database. I'd also guess late 1920s-1930s.

The KJAG mark is that of Kollmar-Jourdan AG, a German case making firm. The brushmarks on the back indicate to me that it has been recently refinished/polished.

That reaffirms my belief that you've got a (possibly) original UN movement from the 1940s or so, that has been mated to an earlier case and had a dial made to match. The style of hands date to a later era than is typical for a watch of this style, and I would expect an original dial to have a sunken seconds sub-dial.

That said, it is an attractive watch that should be fun to wear, and attract a fair bit of attention.
