Help identifying a US Navy pocket watch

I was hoping someone could enlighten me on a certain U.S. Navy pocket watch. I have two cases and one back lid with the writing U.S. Navy, a serial number and the Naval Observatory emblem on the back (see pictures). Two of the cases are Philadelphia silverodes and the hinged case has no maker but is nickel.

I'm trying to find out what movement and dials went into these and any other history on them like, what and where they were used and such. I've been told that possibly the Hamilton 974 could have and the Elgin grade 291 and a Longines cal. 21.29 were used. I would love to see an actual picture of a whole one.

I've read a portion of Military Timepieces by M.E. Whitney and still confused. I also saw a thread here on this same subject that a member showed a pic with an up-and-down black Elgin dial in a case, wasn't sure if there was a movement and no mention of it either. Thank you in advance for your help

The thread doesn't answer any of my questions.
It does for some parts of your question but you need to ask questions of the participants in the thread
more specific questions. :)

I'm trying to find out what movement and dials went into these and any other history on them
Paul Regan shows 2 Hamilton's - "36" chronometer and the "936" comparing watches
Leigh shows - Longines "torpedo boat" watch, previously posted here Two Examples Longines Caliber 21.29 – 1919 and 1943
gretnev shows a Hamilton 936

Why not ask in that thread for them to show you the dials?
What size are your cases?

what and where they were used and such
Paul shows a "36" chronometer and 936 comparing watch
Leigh shows a Longines "torpedo boat" watch

Don, I would suggest Googling the watches you mentioned in your original post and carefully noting the case screw positions. You can then compare these to the case screw witness marks on your cases. Here is my 936 with its cool red minute hand.
