Help identify a pretty substantial mantle clock, no makers mark or name seen?

No makers mark or name on the dial or back plate. I do note a number 5453 stamped on the back plate lower left and a 12 stamped lower right. I have not yet pulled the movemnt to look at the front.

Case measures 21 inches long, 12 high, 7 deep. Dial is 7 inches in diameter, back plate approximately 5 inches square.

Compared to other mantle clocks I've had, this one is pretty substantial with a larger size, thicker, heavier casework and movement.

Can anyone identify or suggest a guess as to manufacturer, approximate date, or country of origin?

Thanks!

Fairly certain this is a German movement, but not sure which maker. However, there are those here who can identify movements from their layout and design, so no doubt someone will be along soon.

Date? probably 1930s.

Others may know more/better.

Good evening, SanJoseMichael!

There's a little mark, almost like a floral sprig or similar, a bit above and to the right of the "12" in you last photo. Any possibility of getting an enlarged shot of that?

I do think, with JTD, that is is German. I do very much like the rounded corners on the case. Sets it apart from the square ones on most.

Best regards!
