    Fortunat,

I know that Mason & Sullivan used to sell kits for the Willard and Howard/Lighthouse banjos, and I guessing that they also had either a Terry or Thomas pillar and scroll. I'm interested in finding descriptions of those kits, what they included, and their prices.

While searching the internet for information on Mason & Sullivan, I came across your post mentioning that you had 16 of their catalogs.

I hope that I'm not abusing your offer by requesting too much, but I'd sincerely appreciate any information that you would provide.

    Very respectfully,
    Larry Root

    Hi Larry.

Sorry to interrupt but I have a 1983 M&S catalog at hand and I can say that they offered an "Ely Terry Shelf Clock" as a DIY kit. In Cherry with enameled dial 30-1/2" X 17-1/4" X 5"

Uncut Skill Level 4: Bluebprint, planed lumber, pillars, hardware, dial and lower glass panel. $98.50

Components only: Blueprints, hardware, finials, dial and lower glass. No lumber. $57.50

Hardware only: Hinges, know screws, brass finials, bullet catch keeper strip and brads. $26.50

    Blueprint Only: $6.50

Years ago I obtained a nicely finished example. It had a simple Hermle 1020 striking movement. As with the originals, it tended to be top-heavy and want to fall off the mantel.

Could I trouble someone with access to an 84 or 85 catalog to check for my long drop? Either built or as a kit?

    Vitals:

    Hermle 141-030 side hammer, bim bam, 85 x 98mm mvmt (dated 1984)
38" from top to bottom of case
    9 1/4" timetrack on dial
    4 3/4" minute hand
    21 3/4" pendulum rod
    2 3/4" pendulum bob
Mostly plywood construction in the case.
    17 lbs. total

    Mark on back of movement:

    84
    MADE IN WEST GERMANY
    TO MASON & SULIVAN'S
    EXCLUSIVE SPECIFICATIONS
    NO (0) JEWELS
    UNADJUSTED
    MADE IN WEST GERMANY
    3301X
    66 cm
    80.16

    Looking to determine:

    - Whether the clock was sold only as a kit, pre-built, or both...
    - Whether the movement was in the kit or ordered separately...
    - What pendulum specs (if any) were indicated...
    - Pricing...
    - Whatever else it may reveal.

I'm willing to compensate someone if they would photocopy the page(s) and send them to me as well.

    Thanks!

On pg. 8 of the '84 catalog, it appears to represent the "Office Long Drop Regulator." This was available in a DIY "pre cut or uncut." Also metal & glass, blueprint, no movement or blueprint only.

Movements ar shown as "3300X or 3301X."

High price kit without movement was $142.50

    Dial, about $9.00

    Movement $69.95 to $72.00

If you care to, I can scan pertinent pages and burn to cd or dvd for you, but I'll need contact info. You can pm me.

I don't have a catalog, but I am currently finishing a project I started in 1980. In 1976 I built four grandfather clocks from kits I ordered from Mason and Sullivan. In 1979 I ordered four kits for the Long Drop Regulator Model R77 clock. I completed two of the kits in 1980 and stored the other two in a warehouse. Recently I decided to complete these two kits. I am in the final stages of finishing my projects but I need to purchase movements and dials. I would appreciate anyone out there who could suggest where I can find a movement and dial that would fit the Mason & Sullivan R77 Long Drop Regulator Clock.
