My latest Model 21 No. N734 has a plain machined finish to the barrel bridge and balance cock. Lately I've seen a very late model 21 with same plain machined finishes. All model 21's I've seen before have had the lined ( Geneva pattern ? ) damascene pattern. Was the plain finish therefore an expedient to speed up manufacture due to high demand at certain times ?
