Hamilton Electric

I've read some of the previous postings on Hamilton electrics, but I didn't see an answer to my question. I have a Hamilton Electric Van Horn and it has a 505 movement. My question is did it originally come with the 505 or was it replaced? All the Van Horn's I've seen have a 500 movement. Maybe it was a later model and it came with the 505?

Thanks in advance.

See page 121 of the Rondeau book on Electrics, from which I quote ------

"The Van Horn was discontinued in 1961, before the Model 505 was released"

So any with 505 movements have been converted, possibly even by Hamilton at the customer's insistence.

The 505 movement is more reliable for everyday wear anyway, since new contacts are still available.

See ---

--- for more details.
