Hello,

Something that is very useful in this regard are old Hamilton material catalogs. Ones from the 40s and 50s turn up frequently on ebay. There is also a reprint of a 1909 catalog available that shows a number of dials (including some fancy dials) and also some hand styles. Send me a email for more info on the 1909 catalog.

Greg is correct, that is a good source.
Also old advertisements are excellent referenc [brotherhood publications from the 1900-1940's]
Past [and future] bulletin articles show combinations.
Another source is the older price indicators by Roy Ehrhardt.

Then there is always the stare and compare at a LOT of watches , especially ones with original boxes serial numbered to the movement.
