The positonal requirements for a 992B were:

    1) tested for 24 hours in each position.
    2) max. of 5 s between dial up and dial down.
    3) max. of 10 s between dial up, dial down and 12 up.
    4) max. of 13 s between dial up, dial down, 12 up, 3 up and 9 up.
    5) max. of 20 s between all six positions.

So you see there was a rather large error allowed for the sixth position. I imagine that the old 992 could pass these requirements. Mine does. The really significant improvement of the 992b over the 992 was the temperature adjustment. Only 6 seconds were allowed between 95 and 40 degress F.
