Hamilton 992 single roller vs double roller

Hi will a single roller balance work in a Hamilton 992 movement that is supposed to have a double? I dont care if the watch keeps perfect RR time,I just want to get it to work...If it won't, can someone please tell me what Hamilton movements can be salvaged to get a working balance.. Don't see how it can, as the lever for a double roller has the safety dart, whereas the one for a single roller doesn't.

The single roller 992 has a pretty special place; why use a balance from an uncommon watch to get a very common watch to run?
