Can anyone supply information on my Hamilton 940 which is engraved on the barrel plate C. H. Bard, H.C.I & P Sedalia, MO ? I am thinking it might have been a jeweler, but what are the letters for? Perhaps a small railroad, but I could find no information. Thanks for any information!

Don, this very likely stands for Cold & Heat (temperature), Isochronism and Positions of the movement, "C. H. Bard is the likely Jeweler who sold the watch. I have seen watches for "Frank Pirtle" who was a Railroad Watch Inspector marked the same way:)
Thanks that is a neat fact I did not know!

Hi Don - Bila has it right with the H.C.I.P being for Heat, Cold, Isochronism and Positions. Also another bit of info is that C.H. Bard was a railroad watch inspector for “the Katy” - the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railway.
