• We are aware of the performance issues with the forum. These are due to problems with Comcast's shared lines in the Columbia, PA area. On December 15, we signed a contract to bring a dedicated fiber line to the forum servers. It should take somewhere between 30 and 90 days to install. Thank you for your patience.

Hamburg/American winding gears

These are the winding gears from a Hamburg/American grandfather clock. In the past, I have always put these into my ultrasonic for cleaning as is, but am now questioning rather I should. What do you do? I appreciate your thoughts. Thanks

The best approach would be to disassemble them. That's the only way you can be sure to 1) get them completely clean, and 2) get them completely dry. And you really want both 1 and 2 to happen. :)
