This is the newest member of my collection. It's a German Box Regulator Wall Clock manufactured in the 1920's by the Hamburg American Clock Company (HAC), also known as Hamburg Amerikanische Uhrenfabrik (HAU). Welcome to the family!

The first movement you show is from the post-Junghans acquisition / collaboration period. A collaboration between Junghans and HAC commenced in 1926 and Junghans purchased HAC n 1930.

Starting in the collaboration period and extending thereafter, some HAC movements show Junghans protocols, such as date codes.

I believe the referenced movement has a date code in the upper left corner of the backplate. Unfortunately, you pictures do not expand.

Please provide a better picture of that area or let us know what is inscribed there.

Regards.

Thanks for the info!

The photo expands for me... Strange. Anyway, in the upper left corner of the backplate you can see "102/26" and right under this the number "385". There is also a "830" (apparently) to the left of these inscriptions. In the lower left corner there is a "W63", with the crossed arrows beneath.

"102/26" and right under this the number "385".

Typically, 102 represents the BPM, 26 is the number of EW teeth, and 385 is pendulum length.

There is also a "830"

I read it as '8 30', which is a date code for August, 1930. This is a Junghans protocol.

In the lower left corner there is a "W63"

'W63' is the movement model number. It is the number 63 movement model number. The 'W' is a Junghans protocol. It stands for Werke or "Works" in English and pertains to the 'works' or movement.

The W63 is an HAC designed movement. Junghans would many times 'cross-brand' movements. For example, they may have used an HAC movement or a Becker movement and applied the Junghans trademark on the movement (or vice-versa). But you have an HAC movement branded as HAC.

Regards.
