H.A.C. key removal

Hi all just received my first H.A.C. clock today could someone tell me if i am right in thinking after you remove the retaining clip the key should pull of,f i have tried pulling it put it is very tight, and i don't want to damage anything. And what is the best way restore the back plate or should i just clean it and leave it as it is

Try turning it in the opposite direction from which you wind up the spring. These are normally just screwed onto the winding arbour, often with a reverse thread.

That one looks like you might have to spread the tabs to remove it.

Thanks for the reply both of you, yes Simon i did think of that and tried but was worried i might damage something so tried pulling it off but it so tight, i will try doing what you both have said

Yes Simon turning it backwards did the trick thanks
If it wont budge you might try applying a little heat. A few seconds application of a small butane torch can often unstick things.
