Have just acquired this clock and it appears to be of German origin. It is complete and in working order. I can’t give photos of the movement at the moment but will post asap. Would very much like further information

Welcome to the forum.

'G W' most likely pertains to Gebrüder Wilde of Villingen.

Clear pictures of the movement - front and back - will assist in confirming.

Regards.

I have my doubts about this being a mark of Gebr. Wilde but, as new2clocks rightly says, we need to see the movement as soon as the owner has it back.

Yes, that is the Gebr. Wilde logo, so new2clocks was right. I've never seen the GW logo before that shows on the gong stand though.

Gebr. Wilde did not always make all their own movements, I wonder if this one can be identified? Maybe Tatyana knows?

I see Steven beat me to it - he often does!

Gerber Wintermantel?

Do you mean Gerson Wintermantel or Gebrüder Wintermantel? In either case, I don't think they made your movement. Gerson Wintermantel was out of business before the beginning of the first world war, Gebrüder Wintermantel did not start in business until 1924.

As far as I know, neither of them made this type of movement.

We have seen Wilde branded movements that were made by Kienzle and Werner. I will suggest Mauthe as a possibility, but this is just a guess.

As you said, perhaps Tatyana or Yahagi can identify the maker of the movement.

Regards.

This is the first time I see GWilde like this. two features indicate that it may be Mauthe. but I can't compare because I'm in the car right now :)

I see the Mauthe movement too.
Gebruder Wilde has collaborated with many manufacturers.

Another movement with signature GW:
