Hi and greetings from London UK

I have bought the above wall clock off gumtree. I love it! Very lovely chimes and looks great. I am posting serial number and stamp as it would be helpful to know approximate age and value.
At the moment the chimes are out. So it is chiming the time at quarter past rather than on the hour. Also the number of chimes is wrong so at 7.15 it is chiming 3 chimes rather than 7.
I would not want to mess around with this myself but it would be helpful to know what people think the problem is and if you would be able to recommend a repairer in London :)

Many thanks again

Matthew

Welcome to the message board! I can't help much with the chiming issues. However, the logo and patents indicate the clock was manufactured by Badische Urhenfabrik in the early 1920s. Here's a post with some information about the patents:

Can you show more of the clock, particularly the case as well?

Thanks. I looked at thread you posted but couldn't really understand much. Here is a picture with case which has been very well restored. At the moment it is chiming 12 on 7.30pm. It seems that it chimes the hour at half past not at quarter past or quarter to..

Sounds like a lever is sticking or the movement is dirty. A less likely cause would be a broken chime activation pin.

DRP 379092 was granted to Badische Uhrenfabrik 16.08.1923 and was valid since 17.12.1922. Ironically, concerned the "selbsttätiger Schlagregelung" - automatically regulating striking mechanism ;)

Does the clock chime and strike the hours in the proper sequence? By that I mean does it chime the half after the quarter, the 3/4 after the half, then the full chime, striking the hours after? If everything is in sequence, but doesn’t match the hands, then the hands can be moved to match the chime and strike.
