Hello Friends: I recently picked up this beautiful Becker. I was wondering a few things: Can anyone narrow down the date of manufacture? Also, I'm sure that it once had a top pediment...do any of you have any pictures of Becker reference that can give me an idea of what it is possibly missing? 6" Dial. Case is approx. 38 x 17 x 8" As always, thanks for your kind help and advice. Rich

Rich, thanks for posting your inquiry and the photos of your GB clock. Your clock was made right at the end of 1906 at the GB Braunau, Bohemia factory based on the approximate serial number and logo stamps. One digit is blocked by the pendulum crutch but that won't change when it was made, I can see "411_50". I'll appreciate if you can fill in the missing digit for documentation purposes.

Here are photos of some similar clocks from the Braunau factory, made within a year either side of your clock:

Basically it's going to be your choice of finding something sympathetic with the case or having one made. Clocks made in this particular period tended to have large, "heavy" pediments as can be seen in the photos. Carved features were quite popular as well. Good luck with your hunt, keep us posted how you are doing.

One favor, a photo of the movement mounting bracket and gong including the gong base will be appreciated.

Thanks so much for your information! What a shame that the pediment is gone....I know that it's common...but the clock is not! I picked this clock up on an on-line estate sale and had to go pick it up. I asked for the top piece, but no one remembered ever seeing it.....and it just was not to be found. The owners had died...well, you know how that goes. Here are the pictures that you asked for. Once again, thanks for your time and kind help. Rich
