• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

I have a Gustav Becker Mantle Clock with the serial number 2470309 on the movement. The GB trademark on the movement looks to be from the 1925 to 1933 era. Would anyone be able to provide a more precise year for this clock. Many thanks.

AVN, welcome to the NAWCC Message Board and thanks for posting your inquiry. The serial number on your movement indicates it was made in the January-March quarter of 1924. One other point of interest for you, is that the use of a seven-digit serial number was discontinued in mid-1925 at about 2510000 so it could not be later than that.

From your description of the logo, it appears you may be referring to a post I made in the "Post Your Gustav Becker Clocks Here" thread some years ago showing GB logos and approximate dates. If so, unfortunately the information there is quite a bit out of date although to be sure we are discussing the same thing we will need to see a good photo of the logo on your clock.

Please also post photos of the clock case, dial, and movement of your clock; that is the only way we can be certain of its identification. We will look forward to seeing the photos.

Below are some pics. of my Gustav Becker Mantle Clock with serial number and logo details. Looking at the jeweller label, the clock appears to have been originally sold in Sydney. HPIM3956.JPG HPIM3959.JPG HPIM3961.JPG HPIM3966.JPG

Hi AVN, thanks for showing your lovely clock. It's a perfect example of one of the styles that were
very popular for export clocks to the UK/Commonwealth. A classic bracket clock style with nice inlays.

AVN and all, I've responded with info regarding your clock in the Post Your Gustav Becker Clocks Here thread. I've also copied the first two posts here to that thread for archival and continuity purposes.

I'm also closing this thread, any additional comments should be made on the linked thread.
