The click lock broke while winding the mainspring of my GB P48 wall clock, resulting in the loss of about 10 teeth on the barrel. My question: How uniform are the barrel sizes of Becker movements? For example, would a P42 barrel be interchangeable?

I have a GB springer on my bench at the moment the barrels are 52.80mm in diameter and appear to be interchangeable sorry it does not have model number stamped on it but it is a very nice deadbeat granddaughter clock.

Hello Lem,

The P48, I think, refers to the pendulum length for that movement. It would be difficult to correlate the pendulum length to the barrel size. Can you supply a picture? You will likely have to go by size, tooth count of the barrel, etc. to find a replacement.

If there are a dozen teeth bad on your barrel, there should be concern about collateral damage to the second and third wheels in that movement.

What is your intent?

Do you want to replace the barrel or repair it?

Best Regards,

Dick Feldman
