    Hello all,
I have just purchased a new clock from a antique shop and am needing some advice.

The case is by Gustav Becker but the clock itself is by Fabrik Germania. I was just wondering if anyone knows if the companies merged or is it a marriage between the two. Also I am looking for a little more history on it, what date it is where it was made etc.
    Thanks Barry

    Barry, welcome to the board

Germania was founded in October 1871 and operated independently until July 1899 when it merged with Becker and others as part of the VFU merger. VFU is Vereinigte Freiburger Uhrenfabriken inkl. vormals Gustav Becker (VFU).

    Regards.

    Hi Berry!

On the back wall of the case are visible holes from another bracket.
I believe the last time the case and movement are merged together.

I assume your movement was made no later than 1896.
Here is the largest serial number of Germania 254_592.
