• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

    Thank you!

Hello to all knowledgeable Gentlemens !
Im the new "Kid In Town" :) ... just starting my collection... And Im proud owner of my first GB 734460.
But there is 2short clicks pre-sound, which is sounds before each chiming :-( ... Annoying a bit :-(
I was trying to investigate the problem....Looks like this peace ( I marked with yellow star on upper left side ) makes the click all the time , when falling down...That is , how the movement is working, correct ?
But the clicks are pretty loud :-( Is it fixable ?
Sorry for maybe incorrect formulation of my question and thanks a lot in advance for any advice.
Yuri

The part you point to is referred to as the rack hook by many books, it may have other names. As the gathering pallet marches the rack to the right it would not be uncommon to hear the rack hook drag over the top of the rack teeth. If you have it on a test stand and it is not actually striking a gong you probably hear it more than you would if the gong were in place. Looks like a nice two weight with a second bit. I don't see the clicking as a real problem. If you are going to clean this up, be gentile. They have very small pivots, take lots of pictures. The clicking would only be a problem if it is skipping teeth or miscounting.

I suspect what you hear is the rack itself falling down and hitting the snail. That is necessary, since that's where the strike count is initiated. After a week or so you won't even hear it.

Thank you very much to all , who replied !
Modify... I meant, to place between rack and snail ( thank you, now I know, how to call them :))), but of course not in teeth area...something like peace of foam rubber ?
What would you do, if decide to get rid of this click sound ?

Yes, any added thickness will screw up the number of strikes. A little grease might help. Don't add too much though.
If you are handy, you might be able to rig up a mechanism like this one has.
