Case was falling apart. The movement was basically really dusty but not very bad at all. Blew it out and oiled it. The case had to be the sides had to be glued back together and some veneer replaced. Back was badly bowed and had a Crack running vertically. Moistened the wood. Clamped it to straight boards which cracked it more which was expected. Glued the Crack good and clamped it that way. Was good overnight to where when i put it back on was nice.
Someone had burned a couple small spots on dial no idea why no solder anywhere. So i had to clean it and polish and since i did that did the pendulum also.
I wouldn't have done neither if it wasn't for the burns. But all in all looks good back together and running good keeping good time.
Any idea of year? Looks like N 55008 serial
Also 41914 next to it

Congratulations. I like Mauthe clocks. I have several. I'm going to suggest you PM -Tatyana-. She has helped date a couple of Mauthe clocks for me. I would be guessing. You've done some nice work. It's always great to see an abused or neglected clock brought back to life.

I have 4 with this one . 2 with nice headpieces and 2 not. Wish people didn't lose these.
I'm a carpenter so I'm going to try and make me some reproduction heads .
Tatyana helped identify those.

I spoke to a German historian a few years back who gave me some interesting insight into some of these clocks with missing parts. Although many were lost in transport form Germany or by careless owners he told me something else. During WWII as times got tough for the average German people in the cities many were unable to obtain fuel to cook and heat with. People resorted to breaking up and burning furniture or whatever was available. The clock was of more value but it kept time just as well without the headpiece so many were used to fix dinner. Just a little piece of history I would never have thought of.
