Hello all I picked this clock up on craigslist yesterday for a whopping $25.00 the seller wasn't into clocks, inherited from family member said it was over wound
A bit of oil and proper set up and it seems to run strong, case is very close to mint. I could find no makers name only numbers on the movement and some letters and 1880 on the gong. Can any of you date and identify the maker?
thanks

Greetings George --

The patent is one of Lenzkirch's, DRP 14083, which was granted in May 1881 (the date shown refers to when it was protected from). Do you have a photo of the back of the movement?

Regards
Zep

As Wallace might say "a cracking buy" George.

Is this one of the "unmarked" Lenzies? Low serial number and no logo looks that way but I'm not that familiar with early Lenzkirch movements.

I found what looks to be a makers stamp on back of case but I can't quite make out what's in it. Hopefully someone will recognize it?

Very nice clock! The only thing of value that I might be able to add (as being from Germany) is that the stamp in the 5th picture says: "Geschütz". These days, in English this would be a reference to "Trademarked", or TM.

Ingo --

Believe that in this case the "protected" term refers to the mounting-bracket-and-gong set up being protected by the patent mentioned above ("Tragstuhl für Uhrwerke mit schwingendem Tonfederträger").

Greetings Ingo --

Definitely, hereabouts close counts! And we can use all the help we can get -- in any case! :)
