a friend of mine inherited this german longcase clock .The carved oak case is larger than usual,I´d allmost like to call it a hall clock,and the three train mvmt. is of good quality:substantial plates (2.5mm),cut pinions,adjustable pallets to the anchor and a special device to adjust the strength of the strike blows by limiting its depth.It plays Westminster on steel rods,the block is unsigned.Any ideas?(sorry for the blury pics,my camera had a failiure).TIA

Might you have a photo of the gong block? I don't recognize this particular movement design, though I've seen others like it.

Not at all sure, Burkhard, but it could be Erhard Jauch (EJU).

Burkhard, we know from an ancient source, although it has been around the year 1930 in Germany hundreds of manufacturers, but only exactly 15 producers who have produced movements for grandfather clocks. The names of these 15 manufacturers are all known, but the clock factory Erhard Jauch is not among these facturers. Even EJU was a very small facturer and according the "Lexikon" was founded only a few years before WW II.

The closest match I can find is an Isgus (J. Schlenker Grusen) product, though the hammer drum on my documented examples are a different design. The pendulum leader and hammer adjusters are just about spot-on.

I have a very early Urgos 2 train(late 1920's). I haven't looked at it since I last serviced it (about a year ago) but, going from memory, the rack, gathering pallet, rack hook, strike adjusting knob, crutch w/adjuster, and suspension hanger looks identical to this. Mine, though unmeasured, has heavy, thick plates as well.

on a second look I found a signature on the back plate and a serial number-besides the pendulum lenth:Elus
Does that ring a bell for someone here?(The gong block is unsigned,no logo nor trademark either).TIA
