Good day, everyone!

I was trying to learn more about George J. Hoffmann & A.E. Pollhans tower clocks. I've ready a great deal in Shelley's book, which was very informative, but I was looking for more information on the models that were made and when. Were there any catalogs ever made by Geo. J. Hoffmann, Hoffman-Pollhans, or the A.E. Pollhans Company that would have discussed the products that were made?

I've talked with Jim Willman via email about his beautiful time and strike that won the best restoration at the recent KY meeting, but between the clocks he's been involved with, what I've seen in a Google search and in Shelley's book, there doesn't seem to be much information out there. I even ran across a beautiful 3-train Pollhans that came up for auction in the Chicago area recently, but again, no information.

If anyone has a catalog or printed information that they would be willing to share, i would really appreciate it. Just trying to learn more about these beautiful clocks.

Thanks for any help!
Scott

These are the only two publications (reprints) I can find, and they don't appear to be for sale or available for download anywhere:

inauthor:"A.E. Pollhans Clock Company" - Google Search

Perhaps someone has a copy of of this one since it was reprinted by Chicagoland Chapter? Maybe in the vertical files or archives of the NAWCC Library? I didn't find it in the search, but not everything from the vertical files and archives is available in the search feature yet. Good luck with your search!

Bibliographic information
Title Tower Clocks Manufactured by A.E. Pollhans
Author A.E. Pollhans Clock Company
Contributor NAWCC Chicagoland Chapter #3
Edition reprint
Publisher Chicagoland Chapter Number 3, National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, 1977
Length 8 pages

Thanks Pat! Yeah, I didn't have any luck with a NAWCC online library search either. Only info I could find were the two publications no longer in print.

Sometimes I can find a PDF download of publications, but nothing in this case.

Here is an A.E. Pollhans 3-train that I ran across recently at auction, but didn't bid. Does anyone know where it might have landed? If anyone has any information about this clock, please let me know.

I think I have the Pollhans reprint, but I am traveling and it will be a week before I get back to my electronic files. Will be happy to post what I have then.

Greetings!
I am a new member to this forum, as I have been newly charged with maintaining an A.E. Pollhans tower clock installed at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Church, in St. Mary, Missouri. Jim Willman has been giving me hands-on and phone guidance on getting it back in tip-top shape. In the course of learning more about this clock, I also was researching the company. I found three articles held by the Missouri Historical Society Library and Research Center related to the A.E. Pollhans Clock Company. One is the reprinted original Pollhans brochure that was published by the Chicgoland Chapter, 1977. The others are two sales brochures (1928?) for the #15 and #17 four quarter striking church tower clocks. I'm attaching a photo of the reprinted brochure cover (1977), as well as the references and actual folio references used by the library containing the documents.
These reference documents are available to view at the Missouri Historical Society Library and Research Center. It is located on the west side of the historic Forest Park, and is a building separate from the main History Museum. (The building it is in is a re-purposed synogogue - BEAUTIFUL restoration and use of the space.) There is no entry charge (you need not be a Museum member) and the reference desk person will retrieve the documents for you. They allow you to photograph the items, or will photocopy them on the spot for a modest fee.
Hope this is helpful info, albeit late to the thread.
Karl Schultz.

Hi Karl! Welcome and thank you for sharing those documents and how to view them. It's appreciated!

Also, we would love to see some pictures of the clock you will be tending to, if you're allowed to share. Please share if/when you can.

Thanks!
Scott
