Years ago my grandfather passed away. Amongst his collection of various items was a watch in a beautiful unmarked case. The watch is had a leather wrist strap inscribed with the name George Arthur. Inscribed in the metal on the back of the watch is the follow.
    George arthur (signature*)

    stainless steel
    water resistant
    Japan movement
    battery sr621sw

I know nothing of watches and would like to know if this is rare and valuable also any background on it. Ty in advance and sorry to waste space if this is a common piece I'm just unable to find any info on ebay or Google.

Newbie, it sounds like a generic wrist watch of fairly late model based on the markings and is likely not rare nor valuable except as an heirloom from your grandfather. George Arthur is likely the jeweler who sold the watch. Hope this helps, some pictures would be extremely helpful.
