I have this old wooden octagonal shaped clock (wood part measures 13 inches, 4 inches deep including rounded dial). Big brass?? Finial on top. No longer has the original clockworks. Wondering if it used to be a real wall clock or was maybe a salesman version.. Has tole painting around the perimeter of dial as you see in photo. Any info would be appreciated. Pick it up in NY at a thrift store.

I did a quick of NAWCC Watch and Clock Bulletin articles and found nothing on "Gebhardt".

Hopefully some NAWCC members in Southern California might have seen some of ones.

Thanks for checking Andy. I just located a Karl Gebhardt clock museum in Nuremberg Germany and wrote to them. I’ll see if there’s a connection...

Good evening!

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it turns out that "Gebhardt" is a Los Angeles retailer of yore. The city directories are probably available online, once you have the date nailed down a bit better.

Best regards!

Makes sense. Any idea on what year?
