No sooner had I turned my computer off having had my questions on a gifted Howard pocket watch, answered than an old 'clock' friend turned up at my door and said " I saw your post on the Howard and did not now you were interested in pocket watches perhaps you would like this". It had apparently been in an old box for 45 years and he had forgotten about it. The front and the back are both screw fits. Well it seems to be a Waltham Vanguard watch in a nickel case, movement No. 16178184 and using the link that Steven Thornberry sent to me I have narrowed it down to 1907. Amazingly, I wound it up and it it ticking away, the first time since 1974 . Again looks quite a nice watch. Now I cannot decide which to wear ??
