I have quite a few hobbies and pastimes and sometimes they intersect. One is wine and food and I host a terrine and wine event every summer. I saw this terrine and thought that some here might get a kick out of it: (go to the article if the picture doesn't show for you)

For several years, the wife of one of the local Houston chapter members made a horological cake that was auctioned following the first full day of the Regional, with proceeds going to the Chapter. The buyers generously shared slices of cake with those in attendance for the event. The first year she made a replica of a black mantel clock, the next year was a pocket watch, and the third year was a banjo. They were amazing works of art, and were quite tasty, too!

Last year, one of the spouses made a beautiful quilt with a banjo motif that was auctioned, and every year, one of the spouses makes horological-themed centerpieces for each table at the breakfast banquet that are awarded to one winner at each table. These spouses are likely all members of the Chapter, so more examples of intersecting hobbies.

This is what PatH is referring to in thread #3 when mentioning items that were auctioned off during the Houston Regional. Great eating except for the last one as it was a little chewy.
