I got this clock in quite good condition but I have a question about one of the markings on the back of the movement. The "Samuel Marti" mark I understand, making it around 1900-1910 in age, but cannot find any reference to the other mark which reads "ANC NE M ?N F:???:??" (last word might be France) and "RAISC? & TH:???:?" and "SUCCESS:???:". Does anyone recognise this marking?

nice clock..

The stamp will relate to the fact that the maker had taken over from another.

It will translate to something like Ancienne Maison Fr.... (the old house of Fr...) / Raison & Thom (the new name of the company) / Successeur / Successor

So the maker of the clock would be the name in the middle, although what that is is quite hard to see what that is as the stamp was not done well. The old name of the company will be on the first line, and as with the new one, difficult to read...

Hope that helps some

Nice clock. The second name is Raison & Thomas who are listed Paris? late 19th C, successor to Franuls who is listed mid 19th C. They will be the finisher and/or the retailer.
