I bought this clock and it was black, I cleaned it up and the photo is the result. Can anyone tell me what the clock is and what the metal might be

It is very difficult to say much from the one photo you have posted. The metal may be brass. The movement appears to be missing - have you got it?

Please can you post clearer, sharp photos of the case and also the movement if you have it.

Did the color come through correctly on the picture? It looks too "silverish" to me to be brass. Maybe it is spelter? How heavy is it? Are any parts of the case broken off? How does the metal at the broken site look like?

Have you tried a magnet on it? in photo 4 and 5 is that rust inside the case?

A magnet does not stick, it might be brass or bronze with silver coating, any idea how old it might be

Just a guess going on the movement about 1880-90? The case has quality castings, nice clock.

You could scrape the insdie of the case to see what the base metal looks like.
