The lapel pin is apparently 2 grams and marked 14k... I assume they used to sell them in the NAWCC on line store? I don't see them for sale now.... Any idea what they originally cost or when they were for sale? Any information will be greatly appreciated.... rob

I believe they are awarded to 10 year members. They are not sold (officially at least).

Here's the 10 year pin. Roughly 1 1/8 inch high, 1/2 inch wide

The new years-of-membership pins are not gold. Rob - do you have a photo of the pin you are asking about? What does it look like?

Having not seen it, I suspect it may be an old Fellow pin. Is it round? My Fellow pin is only 10k gold (2007 vintage). I suspect they went from 14k to 10k due to cost.

Oops! My Fellow pin is 1998 vintage and is not marked. My Star Fellow pin is from 2007 and is 10k.

    Rob:

I talked to a few old timers. It is a membership pin that everyone got for joining in the 70s and earlier. It's 14k overlay but not solid 14k. After all, membership back then was less than $10 (in 1959 it was $6), so any pin that was given away couldn't have cost more than about a buck.

I have one of those in my set of pins. I also have both the old style and new style longevity pins (10, 20, 30, 40). I also have one from the Waltham Watchmakers Union AFL/CIO Local 72.

There are also NAWCC membership pins for the contributing member levels. I have never seen a diamond one of those.

Yep--Rob's pin is a membership pin.
As I recall--the one I have came as a pin and also had the same back on a small chain as a tie tack.
It could be worn either way---lapel--or tie.

By the way--it is overlay as Frank has mentioned and mine reads 10kt. as that is what it would have been at the time I joined in 1989
