First time resilvering, why did I wait so long?

I’ve had a resilvering kit for a while now, but lacked the courage to try it. When I started working on this Junghans, the case and bezel came out so well, it made the worn dial look terrible. Seeing that the numbers could be removed, and the wax in the engraved minute ring was fine, I decided this was the one. Turned out to be so much easier than I thought to resilver a dial. I was a little concerned when it didn’t turn silver right away, but then remembered the words from one of the videos I watched, to “just keep working,, the process is happening, just give it time.” While my contraption for sanding the circular grain is crude, it worked perfectly. The strap is cut from a cat food aluminum can. Formed easily over the convex dial.

Nice Halloween background on the picture!

Glad you like it, cuz the house is so decorated, I couldn’t find a spot that didn’t have a bat, ghost or pumpkin somewhere in the background.
