This was Wayne Schlitt's excellent website. Wayne had developed a very high interest in Elgin watches but, unfortunately, he got into a dispute with someone who no longer posts here and it soured him so much that he took down his website.

Several years later, he restored it, but he apparently never regained his interest and he stopped adding to the website.

Oh, right! I think I knew that at one time (that Wayne created it), but I had forgotten.

I'll have to speak with Fred (Hansen) and see if he can find it using one of the internet tools, like the wayback machine. Sometimes you can still access old websites using those. If I find a way (through Fred!), I'll let everyone know!

I couldn't get the Wayback Machine to look up a watch, but
all the other info is still available there.

Jeff Sexton was my first real introduction to the world of pocket watches
and someone who worked on them and knew about them.
I bought a Coin Silver Elgin G M Wheeler; it was years before I even had
heard of the NAWCC. I guess that I searched on the internet(maybe) for someone to
fix/service a pocket watch. I found Jeff and sent him the watch.
He did a fine job working on it. I gave it to my son.

I've preserved a working copy of Wayne's old website. Unfortunately, I cannot upload it because it has an unsupported extension. I have sent copy on to Diana and Fred. If a moderator can figure out how to do that, please let me know and I will send along my copy.

I do not believe that the serial number search would work
in a download unless you had the data.

As it turns out, I was too optimistic about having preserved Wayne's site. It appears that I only preserved the home page. None of the links seem to work now that I have just retried them. I honestly thought they still did. The file I have has an .html extension.

To respond to one of the other messages ... I hope Wayne is okay, too! I last interacted with him less than a year ago. I know he retired not terribly long ago (maybe 1-3 years ago). I'll reach out and see if I can find out if he is doing well.

I am incorrect! I confused another Wayne with a similar last name with Wayne Schlitt. I do not have any recent information at all about this Wayne, unfortunately.
