I picked up this Elgin convertible movement and case from Dave Coatsworth as a little project to work on. The case I believe originally housed one of these movements before due to the location of the cut for the setting lever and the fact that all 3 case screws line up with the marks on the case.

What i know about this one is that its from around 1885, 15 jewel, Adjusted.

What were the Adjustments on these movements, positions, temp, and iso? How many positions?

Elgin Grade 49 is essentially the gilt version of the Grade 50 (nickel). In catalogs from the period, Grade 50 is simply described as "Adjusted." In contrast, Grade 72 is described as "adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and position."

See attached image from the 1896 A.C. Becken catalog.

These Elgin interchangeable watches are very nice.
I always keep an eye out for them.

Since the pendant can be moved, does the adjustment need to be made in 4 positions for 3 position adjustment and 6 positions of 5 position adjustment?

Perhaps the adjustments for position only included the open face configuration. Curious minds want to know. :)
