Hi all,
I‘ve had this clock for a number of years now and it became time for servicing and while I’ve got it apart this time I’ve decided (been putting it off with other jobs!) to replace the minute hand since what’s there is incorrect!
Based on the age of the clock and what I believe is the original hour hand I’ve cut and started fitting the a more period hand.
My question is, should the tip of the minute hand touch the minute hash marks or extend just beyond to the 60 minute marks?
Ive looked around for examples and as the majority are pocket watches it’s hard to get a feel for what may have been correct? I know the cross piece is correct as it should underscore the hour marks.
My monies on the tip touching the minute hash marks, it’s just the tip will look a little disproportionate to me?
Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.
cheers,
James
