Reference the photos. How is the center nut secured to the minute arbor?

Is it threaded and if so clockwise or counter clockwise to remove?

    Thanks,

Yes it is threaded. Normal way, counter clockwise.

Some people really tighten those things! You may need a little help from pliers to get it loose. Hold the minute hand while you loosen it. Be careful not to mar the nut.
