• Upcoming updates
Over the next couple of weeks we will be performing software updates on the forum. These will be completed in small steps as we upgrade individual software addons. You might occasionally see a maintenance message that will last a few minutes at most.

If we anticipate an update will take more than a few minutes, we'll put up a notice with estimated time.

I have a Howard in a Dueber case and I cannot figure out how the crystal and bezel can be removed. Is it a screw on and just to tight to budge or is there some secret to this.

Hi Micheal,
These bezels snap on. If you look around the edge of the bezel, you might find an area of slight separation where you can insert a case knife. Pry gently as you don't want to break the crystal.

Just out of curiosity, why do need to remove the crystal/bezel? It looks pretty good to me from here. The hands aren't fouled. The crystal isn't cracked, etc. Howards are great watches to collect, especially when they are intact with their original 18K cases. Those well-marked Duebers seem pretty scarce.

Would you be kind enough to post an image of the movement? Most of us here are more interested in the mechanical aspects of the watches. When they're in such a nice case, it's really a bonus. Thanks.

There is a spec of a tiny thread stuck on the face of the dial. Would blow right off I am sure.

Thanks for the image of the movement. Yes, it does look like a little piece of lint near the 11:00 marker. And yes, once you remove the bezel by prying at the small separation, you should be able to blow it off. The trickiest part will be getting bezel back on. It's easy to push the crystal out. You need to line things up well before pressing along the bezel, without touching much of the crystal. That said, with an 18s/Ns, it's the easiest you'll get. That's a nice coin-edge bezel, so be gentle. Good luck.
