Ain't dogs and cats wonderful additions to our lives? What would be do without them? Stop to think what a tremendous
asset they are in the money making business.

Stop to think how many people earn a living due to the four footed animal! Did you ever go into a store that sells dog and cat food and other supplies? These stores in a distant way even help the automobile business...are you going to carry a load
of food and stuff home or will you use your car and go and get it?

Not only are some of these dog and cat species magnificent to look upon and take in their beauty...just think how much a dog or a cat can add to a lonely life. Me, I live alone and my cat serves as my companion, lover, friend, greeter when I come home from some errands, think how much pleasure they get out of greeting you. etc, etc, etc,.

A home without a dog or cat can be a home that never experienced their beauty and love.

We used to have a dog Eleanor 30-40 yrs ago that loved sleeping on the couch
(like I see that Dave's dogs do). But, when she would hear a car
coming up the driveway she would immediately jump off. Eleanor knew my Mother didn't approve
of her on the furniture.
My mother really never knew.
I don't know what else Eleanor did sneakingly, maybe
she used our tooth brushes when we weren't home.

We had an alsatian (German Shepherd) when I was a kid that was not allowed upstairs, and as far as we were aware always abided by that rule.

One day when I was off sick I was the last one left in the house in bed when everybody else went to school or work. The second my Mother, as the last to leave, closed the front door, I heard the dog bound up the stairs. I could hear her investigating every room upstairs and eventually she got to my bedroom and saw me. She looked at me for a moment and then bolted back down the stairs.

That's funny! My oldest cat loves to explore my clock room, but knows that is not allowed. Once in awhile he'll sneak in when I'm careless and leave the door ajar. All I have to do is look at him and say "what are you doing?" and he bolts.

My wife found this and I thought it might be worth a few chuckles to dog and cat lovers out there. So true...hopefully no one is offended. Love the intensity in the cat's eyes...he (or she) really means it! :chuckling:

Here’s one of my three. This was taken a couple of days ago when I was packing for a trip. I’ve titled the photo “take me too, dad”

My cats go whack-o when I pack for vacation or a weekend away. They know what it means, and they sulk around until we leave. My sister drops in every day to care for their needs, but they're always happy when we come back :)

I'm allergic to dogs and cats, we have a tortoise. He is off walking around the house at the moment with my partner keeping an eye on him. He is quite a responsibility. He is only three and a half years old and will outlive both of us. The person who will look after him hasn't been born yet!

Snakes, parrots and tortoises have very long lives. Did you know most allergies are caused by the hair and not the animal? You might find a hairless cat would be an option for a more loving critter to care for :D

Tatty is a character, he provides a lot of entertainment with his antics, and although his lifestyle doesn't demand the higher order brain power of a mammal he knows who we are and trusts us. He is a very good natured little chap.
